Pine Marten, Mt. Lassen trail

I don't usually have the patience to wait rarer animals out, but I gave this critter about 45 minutes of quiet sitting before he peeked around the rock to see what I was up to. It was on the trail to Lassen Peak, in Northern California. (Note: I had this labeled as a weasel for a long time til someone corrected my identification; I'm a geologist, not a biologist, darnit!)
