Description
Lava tubes form when basalt lava flows crust over while the lava continues to flow underneath. Eventually a breakout occurs and the lava flows out. This is one of the caves at Lava Beds National Monument in the northeast corner of California. Pictographs drawn by the Modoc Indian people grace the depths of this cave.

Thank you for the comment! I have a few shots of the paintings, but they are very faint. I'll see if I can use the contrast and bring them out better. I post them if I can make it work.
