Desert Snow

Deserts: hot, dry, sand dunes, cactus? Not really. This is Telescope Peak in Death Valley National Park. From the summit at 11,049 feet, one can look down to Badwater, which at -282 feet is the lowest point in the western hemisphere. The forests are pinon pine, which are adapted to hot dry summers and cold winters. As mentioned previously, I love the character of light in the deserts.
